Can you get a mental block when you yourself have a bare canvas before you? And your kids assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a flower, or sometimes a rainbow, however I’m stumped. (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).
We have a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to tell you the reality, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that people have a patio stone driveway and the same with our patio in the backyard. So the children take the chalk colours and fill in most the tiny, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture in to the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they can escape with it. Little tricksters…)

And then one of our baby sitters let the children colour a several bricks on our house last year. That has been a negative idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you intend to get a scrub brush and work out how to obtain it all off. This has been there for almost per year now, and despite having pelting rains and plenty of snow storms it’s as bright as the day it happened. I guess I possibly could find a wash brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??
