Would you get a mental block when you yourself have a blank canvas before you? And your kids are saying, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a flower, or sometimes a rainbow, but I’m stumped. I feel exactly the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently designed to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We’ve a large box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to tell you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I believe the situation (besides our creativity) is that we have an outdoor stone driveway and the exact same with our patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in every the small, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached to their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they could get away with it. Little tricksters…)

If there is only 1 item to have us through the long summer days, it will be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only can it be super inexpensive, but it’s ideal for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

And the other of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a several bricks on our house last year. That has been a poor idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your home unless you want to get a scrub brush and figure out how to get it all off. It’s been there for nearly a year now, and despite having pelting rains and a lot of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. I suppose I possibly could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has enough time for that??
