Can you get a mental block when you have a bare canvas before you? And your kids assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a flower, or sometimes a range, but I’m stumped. I’m the exact same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently designed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the truth, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that people have an outdoor patio stone driveway and the exact same with this patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in all the tiny, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture in to the play house attached to their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that first-time before I noticed, and now they know they could get away with it. Little tricksters…)

If there clearly was only one item to have us through the long summer days, it could be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not just can it be super inexpensive, but it’s ideal for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better when compared to a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

And then one of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a few of the bricks on the house last year. That has been a negative idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your home unless you want to get a scrub brush and work out how to get it all off. This has been there for pretty much per year now, and despite pelting rains and plenty of snow storms it’s as bright as the afternoon it happened. I suppose I could find a wash brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??

This list is fantastic if you’ll need a little bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure!
