Can you get a mental block when you have a clear canvas facing you? And your kids say, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a flower, or sometimes a range, however I’m stumped. I’m the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What have you been likely to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a big box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the issue (besides our creativity) is that individuals have a patio stone driveway and exactly the same with our patio in the backyard. So the youngsters take the chalk colours and fill in all the little, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture in to the play house attached to their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not supposed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they could break free with it. Little tricksters…)

If there is only 1 item to get us through the long summer days, it will be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not just is it super inexpensive, but it’s great for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better when compared to a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

And then one of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a several bricks on our house last year. Which was a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your property unless you want to get a scrub brush and figure out how to get all of it off. This has been there for nearly per year now, and despite having pelting rains and plenty of snow storms it’s as bright as the day it happened. Perhaps I really could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??
