Would you get a mental block if you have a clear canvas before you? And your children are saying, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a rose, or sometimes a range, however I’m stumped. I’m exactly the same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently likely to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).
We have a large box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the reality, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I believe the issue (besides our creativity) is that people have a patio stone driveway and the same with your patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in most the tiny, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached to their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they could break free with it. Little tricksters…)

And the other of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a several bricks on our home last year. That was a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you want to get a scrub brush and figure out how to obtain it all off. It’s been there for almost a year now, and even with pelting rains and plenty of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. I guess I could find a wash brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??
