Would you get a mental block if you have a clear canvas facing you? And your children assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a flower, or sometimes a range, however I’m stumped. Personally i think the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What have you been designed to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the truth, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that people have an outdoor stone driveway and the same with this patio in the backyard. So the children take the chalk colours and fill in all the tiny, rectangular bricks in numerous colours. Sometimes they venture in to the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they could escape with it. Little tricksters…)

If there was just one item to obtain us through the long summer days, it will be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only is it super inexpensive, but it’s perfect for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your children all day of nonstop fun!

And then one of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a several bricks on our house last year. That has been a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your property unless you intend to get a scrub brush and work out how to obtain it all off. This has been there for nearly annually now, and despite pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as the day it happened. I suppose I could find a polish brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??

This list is fantastic if you’ll need a little inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from the boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! There are tons of great ideas! And better yet, you can take a photograph from a second floor window and keep carefully the memory as a keepsake! I love these ideas!
