Can you get a mental block when you yourself have a clear canvas in front of you? And your kids assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually find yourself drawing a flower, or sometimes a range, but I’m stumped. I feel the exact same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What have you been supposed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We’ve a large box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the reality, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the issue (besides our creativity) is that we have an outdoor patio stone driveway and exactly the same with your patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in all the little, rectangular bricks in numerous colours. Sometimes they venture in to the play house attached to their swing set and they’ll colour the walls within too (they’re not supposed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first-time before I noticed, and now they know they could escape with it. Little tricksters…)

If there clearly was just one item to get us through the long summer days, it will be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only can it be super inexpensive, but it’s perfect for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than the usual “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your kids all night of nonstop fun!

And then one of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a few of the bricks on our home last year. That was a poor idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you wish to get a polish brush and work out how to get everything off. This has been there for almost annually now, and despite pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. Perhaps I possibly could find a polish brush and scrub it off, but who has the full time for that??

This list is fantastic if you need a little bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure!
