Do you get a mental block when you have an empty canvas before you? And your children are saying, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a rose, or sometimes a rainbow, however I’m stumped. Personally i think the same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you supposed to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a big box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I believe the issue (besides our creativity) is that individuals have an outdoor stone driveway and the same with our patio in the backyard. So the children take the chalk colours and fill in most the tiny, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture into the play house attached to their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they can escape with it. Little tricksters…)

If there is only one item to obtain us through the long summer days, it would be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only is it super inexpensive, but it’s perfect for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than the usual “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your kids all day of nonstop fun!

And the other of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a few of the bricks on our house last year. That has been a poor idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your property unless you wish to get a polish brush and figure out how to have all of it off. This has been there for almost per year now, and even with pelting rains and plenty of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. I suppose I really could find a polish brush and scrub it off, but who has the full time for that??

This list is fantastic if you’ll need a little bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! You will find lots of great ideas! And better yet, you can have a photograph from another floor window and keep consitently the memory as a keepsake! I really like these ideas!
