Can you get a mental block when you have an empty canvas before you? And your kids assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a flower, or sometimes a range, however I’m stumped. Personally i think the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently likely to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a big box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to inform you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the situation (besides our creativity) is that we have a patio stone driveway and the exact same with this patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in every the little, rectangular bricks in numerous colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first-time before I noticed, and now they know they could break free with it. Little tricksters…)

If there is only one item to obtain us through the long summer days, it will be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not just is it super inexpensive, but it’s perfect for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than the usual “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your children all day of nonstop fun!

And then one of our baby sitters let the kids colour a few of the bricks on our home last year. That has been a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your property unless you intend to get a polish brush and figure out how to get all of it off. It’s been there for almost a year now, and despite pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as the afternoon it happened. Perhaps I possibly could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has the full time for that??

This list is fantastic if you’ll need a bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from the boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! You will find lots of great ideas! And better still, you are able to have a photograph from another floor window and keep the memory as a keepsake! I love these ideas!
