Do you get a mental block if you have an empty canvas before you? And your kids assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a flower, or sometimes a rainbow, but then I’m stumped. Personally i think the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently supposed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).
We’ve a large box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to tell you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I think the issue (besides our creativity) is that people have a patio stone driveway and the same with this patio in the backyard. So the children take the chalk colours and fill in all the little, rectangular bricks in various colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first-time before I noticed, and now they know they can break free with it. Little tricksters…)
If there clearly was just one item to get us through the long summer days, it would be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not just can it be super inexpensive, but it’s ideal for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better when compared to a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!
We’ve pulled together the most popular sidewalk chalk ideas into an epic set of learning activities, games, imagination spark-ers, and get-them-active ideas that’ll keep your chalk repertoire fresh all summer long. And many totally cool interactive chalk art you never desire to miss!
So grab your box of chalk and head outside with the kids all day of nonstop fun!
And then one of our baby sitters let the kids colour a few of the bricks on our home last year. That has been a negative idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your home unless you wish to get a scrub brush and work out how to obtain it all off. This has been there for pretty much per year now, and despite pelting rains and plenty of snow storms it’s as bright as the day it happened. I suppose I could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??
This list is fantastic if you need a little inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from the boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure!
