Can you get a mental block when you yourself have an empty canvas in front of you? And the kids are saying, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually find yourself drawing a flower, or sometimes a range, however I’m stumped. I feel the exact same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you designed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We’ve a big box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the truth, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the issue (besides our creativity) is that people have an outdoor patio stone driveway and exactly the same with your patio in the backyard. So the children take the chalk colours and fill in every the small, rectangular bricks in numerous colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached to their swing set and they’ll colour the walls within too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they could break free with it. Little tricksters…)

If there clearly was only 1 item to have us through the long summer days, it would be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only can it be super inexpensive, but it’s ideal for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

And then one of our baby sitters let the children colour a several bricks on our house last year. Which was a poor idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your home unless you intend to get a polish brush and work out how to get everything off. It’s been there for pretty much annually now, and despite pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as the day it happened. I guess I could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??
