Would you get a mental block if you have a blank canvas before you? And your kids say, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually find yourself drawing a rose, or sometimes a range, however I’m stumped. I’m the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently supposed to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).
We have a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to tell you the truth, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that we have an outdoor stone driveway and exactly the same with your patio in the backyard. So the youngsters take the chalk colours and fill in every the small, rectangular bricks in numerous colours. Sometimes they venture in to the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not supposed to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they can break free with it. Little tricksters…)
If there clearly was just one item to obtain us through the long summer days, it will be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not merely could it be super inexpensive, but it’s perfect for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with the kids all day of nonstop fun!
And then one of our baby sitters let the kids colour a few of the bricks on our house last year. Which was a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you intend to get a scrub brush and figure out how to get all of it off. This has been there for pretty much annually now, and even with pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as the afternoon it happened. I guess I possibly could find a wash brush and scrub it off, but who has enough time for that??
