Can you get a mental block when you have a bare canvas before you? And the kids say, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a flower, or sometimes a rainbow, however I’m stumped. Personally i think the exact same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What have you been supposed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We’ve a large box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to inform you the truth, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I believe the situation (besides our creativity) is that people have an outdoor patio stone driveway and exactly the same with our patio in the backyard. So the youngsters take the chalk colours and fill in every the little, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached with their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that first-time before I noticed, and now they know they can get away with it. Little tricksters…)

If there is just one item to have us through the long summer days, it would be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not just can it be super inexpensive, but it’s perfect for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than the usual “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with the kids all day of nonstop fun!

And the other of our baby sitters let the kids colour a few of the bricks on the house last year. Which was a negative idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your property unless you wish to get a wash brush and work out how to have everything off. It’s been there for almost a year now, and despite having pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as the day it happened. I suppose I really could find a wash brush and scrub it off, but who has enough time for that??
