Would you get a mental block if you have a blank canvas in front of you? And your children assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a flower, or sometimes a rainbow, but I’m stumped. I feel exactly the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What have you been supposed to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to inform you the truth, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the situation (besides our creativity) is that we have an outdoor patio stone driveway and the same with our patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in all the tiny, rectangular bricks in various colours. Sometimes they venture into the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they are able to break free with it. Little tricksters…)

If there is only 1 item to obtain us through the long summer days, it will be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only can it be super inexpensive, but it’s perfect for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better when compared to a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

We’ve pulled together our favorite sidewalk chalk ideas into an epic set of learning activities, games, imagination spark-ers, and get-them-active ideas which will keep your chalk repertoire fresh all summer long. Plus some totally cool interactive chalk art you do not wish to miss!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your kids all night of nonstop fun!

And then one of our baby sitters let the kids colour a several bricks on our house last year. That was a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you wish to get a wash brush and work out how to obtain all of it off. It’s been there for almost per year now, and even with pelting rains and a lot of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. I guess I really could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has enough time for that??

This list is fantastic if you will need a little bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! You will find loads of great ideas! And better yet, you can take a photograph from another floor window and keep the memory as a keepsake! I enjoy these ideas!

From princess crowns to under sea adventures, you will find loads of fun ideas to help you produce a whole new world in your driveway!
