Would you get a mental block when you yourself have a bare canvas in front of you? And your children are saying, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually find yourself drawing a rose, or sometimes a rainbow, but then I’m stumped. I’m exactly the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you designed to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).
We have a large box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the situation (besides our creativity) is that people have an outdoor patio stone driveway and the exact same with this patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in most the small, rectangular bricks in various colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached with their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they are able to escape with it. Little tricksters…)
If there clearly was only 1 item to obtain us through the long summer days, it will be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not just is it super inexpensive, but it’s great for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better when compared to a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

And then one of our baby sitters let the kids colour a several bricks on our home last year. That has been a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you intend to get a polish brush and figure out how to have it all off. This has been there for nearly annually now, and despite pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as the afternoon it happened. Perhaps I possibly could find a polish brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??
