Do you get a mental block when you have a clear canvas in front of you? And your children assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a flower, or sometimes a range, however I’m stumped. I’m the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently designed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We’ve a big box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that people have an outdoor stone driveway and the same with our patio in the backyard. So the youngsters take the chalk colours and fill in most the small, rectangular bricks in numerous colours. Sometimes they venture in to the play house attached with their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they can get away with it. Little tricksters…)

If there was only 1 item to obtain us through the long summer days, it could be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only is it super inexpensive, but it’s great for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than the usual “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

And then one of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a few of the bricks on our home last year. That was a poor idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your home unless you intend to get a wash brush and work out how to get all of it off. It’s been there for nearly per year now, and despite pelting rains and a lot of snow storms it’s as bright as the afternoon it happened. I suppose I possibly could find a polish brush and scrub it off, but who has the full time for that??
