Would you get a mental block when you have a clear canvas before you? And your kids say, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a rose, or sometimes a range, but then I’m stumped. I’m the same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently designed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to tell you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the issue (besides our creativity) is that we have an outdoor stone driveway and the exact same with this patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in most the little, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture into the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls within too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they could escape with it. Little tricksters…)

If there clearly was only 1 item to obtain us through the long summer days, it would be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only could it be super inexpensive, but it’s ideal for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

We’ve pulled together the most popular sidewalk chalk ideas into an epic set of learning activities, games, imagination spark-ers, and get-them-active ideas that’ll keep your chalk repertoire fresh all summer long. Plus some totally cool interactive chalk art you never desire to miss!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with the kids all night of nonstop fun!

And then one of our baby sitters let the children colour a some of the bricks on our home last year. That has been a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you want to get a polish brush and work out how to get all of it off. This has been there for nearly a year now, and despite pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. Perhaps I really could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??

This list is fantastic if you’ll need a little bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from the boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! You will find lots of great ideas! And even better, you are able to have a photograph from another floor window and keep carefully the memory as a keepsake! I love these ideas!

From princess crowns to under sea adventures, you will find loads of fun ideas to help you make a whole new world in your driveway!
