Can you get a mental block if you have a clear canvas in front of you? And your children assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a rose, or sometimes a range, however I’m stumped. Personally i think the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What have you been supposed to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a large box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the reality, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I think the situation (besides our creativity) is that we have an outdoor patio stone driveway and exactly the same with this patio in the backyard. So the youngsters take the chalk colours and fill in all the small, rectangular bricks in numerous colours. Sometimes they venture into the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls within too (they’re not supposed to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they could escape with it. Little tricksters…)

If there was only one item to obtain us through the long summer days, it would be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only can it be super inexpensive, but it’s ideal for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than the usual “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

We’ve pulled together well known sidewalk chalk ideas into an epic list of learning activities, games, imagination spark-ers, and get-them-active ideas that will keep your chalk repertoire fresh all summer long. Plus some totally cool interactive chalk art that you don’t want to miss!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with the kids all night of nonstop fun!

And the other of our baby sitters let the children colour a several bricks on our house last year. Which was a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your property unless you wish to get a scrub brush and figure out how to have it all off. This has been there for pretty much annually now, and even with pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as the afternoon it happened. Perhaps I really could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has the full time for that??

This list is fantastic if you need a little bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! There are tons of great ideas! And better still, you can take a photograph from an additional floor window and keep consitently the memory as a keepsake! I love these ideas!

From princess crowns to under sea adventures, you will find loads of fun ideas to help you create a whole new world in your driveway!
