Can you get a mental block when you yourself have an empty canvas in front of you? And your children say, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually find yourself drawing a flower, or sometimes a rainbow, but then I’m stumped. Personally i think exactly the same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What have you been likely to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).
We’ve a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to inform you the truth, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I think the issue (besides our creativity) is that we have a patio stone driveway and the exact same with our patio in the backyard. So the children take the chalk colours and fill in every the small, rectangular bricks in various colours. Sometimes they venture into the play house attached with their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they can get away with it. Little tricksters…)
If there was just one item to obtain us through the long summer days, it could be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not just is it super inexpensive, but it’s great for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!
We’ve pulled together our favorite sidewalk chalk ideas into an epic set of learning activities, games, imagination spark-ers, and get-them-active ideas that may keep your chalk repertoire fresh all summer long. And many totally cool interactive chalk art that you do not want to miss!
So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your kids all day of nonstop fun!
And the other of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a some of the bricks on the house last year. That has been a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your property unless you wish to get a polish brush and work out how to obtain all of it off. It’s been there for nearly a year now, and despite pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. I suppose I could find a polish brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??
This list is fantastic if you’ll need a little inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! There are tons of great ideas! And even better, you are able to have a photograph from an additional floor window and keep consitently the memory as a keepsake! I enjoy these ideas!
