Do you get a mental block when you have a blank canvas facing you? And the kids assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a flower, or sometimes a rainbow, but then I’m stumped. Personally i think exactly the same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you supposed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We’ve a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the truth, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that individuals have an outdoor patio stone driveway and exactly the same with our patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in every the tiny, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached with their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they are able to escape with it. Little tricksters…)

If there is only one item to get us through the long summer days, it would be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only could it be super inexpensive, but it’s perfect for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than the usual “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

We’ve pulled together well known sidewalk chalk ideas into an epic listing of learning activities, games, imagination spark-ers, and get-them-active ideas which will keep your chalk repertoire fresh all summer long. And several totally cool interactive chalk art you don’t wish to miss!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your kids all day of nonstop fun!

And then one of our baby sitters let the kids colour a some of the bricks on our house last year. That has been a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your home unless you want to get a polish brush and figure out how to get all of it off. It’s been there for nearly per year now, and despite having pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as the afternoon it happened. I suppose I could find a wash brush and scrub it off, but who has enough time for that??

This list is fantastic if you need a little inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from the boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! You will find lots of great ideas! And better still, you can take a photograph from an additional floor window and keep consitently the memory as a keepsake! I love these ideas!

From princess crowns to under sea adventures, you will find loads of fun ideas to help you produce a whole new world in your driveway!
