Can you get a mental block if you have a bare canvas in front of you? And your kids assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a flower, or sometimes a rainbow, but then I’m stumped. I’m the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently designed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a large box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to inform you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that people have a patio stone driveway and the exact same with our patio in the backyard. So the youngsters take the chalk colours and fill in all the little, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture in to the play house attached with their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not supposed to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they are able to break free with it. Little tricksters…)

If there is only 1 item to obtain us through the long summer days, it would be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not merely is it super inexpensive, but it’s great for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

We’ve pulled together the most popular sidewalk chalk ideas into an epic listing of learning activities, games, imagination spark-ers, and get-them-active ideas which will keep your chalk repertoire fresh all summer long. And several totally cool interactive chalk art that you don’t want to miss!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your kids all day of nonstop fun!

And then one of our baby sitters let the children colour a few of the bricks on the house last year. That has been a poor idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your home unless you intend to get a polish brush and work out how to have everything off. It’s been there for nearly a year now, and despite having pelting rains and a lot of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. Perhaps I possibly could find a wash brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??

This list is fantastic if you need a little bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! There are tons of great ideas! And even better, you can take a photograph from another floor window and keep carefully the memory as a keepsake! I really like these ideas!

From princess crowns to under sea adventures, you will find loads of fun ideas to help you create a whole new world in your driveway!
