Can you get a mental block when you yourself have a clear canvas before you? And your kids say, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a rose, or sometimes a range, but then I’m stumped. Personally i think exactly the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What have you been supposed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).
We’ve a big box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to inform you the reality, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the situation (besides our creativity) is that we have an outdoor patio stone driveway and exactly the same with your patio in the backyard. So the youngsters take the chalk colours and fill in all the tiny, rectangular bricks in numerous colours. Sometimes they venture in to the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they can break free with it. Little tricksters…)
If there was just one item to get us through the long summer days, it could be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not merely could it be super inexpensive, but it’s perfect for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than the usual “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!
We’ve pulled together our favorite sidewalk chalk ideas into an epic list of learning activities, games, imagination spark-ers, and get-them-active ideas that’ll keep your chalk repertoire fresh all summer long. Plus some totally cool interactive chalk art you don’t desire to miss!
So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your kids all night of nonstop fun!
And the other of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a some of the bricks on our home last year. That has been a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your property unless you want to get a scrub brush and figure out how to get all of it off. It’s been there for almost annually now, and despite having pelting rains and plenty of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. I suppose I could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has the full time for that??
This list is fantastic if you need a bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! You will find loads of great ideas! And better still, you are able to have a photograph from a second floor window and keep carefully the memory as a keepsake! I love these ideas!
From princess crowns to under sea adventures, you will find loads of fun ideas to help you produce a whole new world in your driveway!
