Would you get a mental block if you have a clear canvas facing you? And your kids assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a rose, or sometimes a rainbow, but then I’m stumped. I’m exactly the same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you supposed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).
We’ve a big box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the reality, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the issue (besides our creativity) is that individuals have an outdoor patio stone driveway and the exact same with our patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in every the tiny, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached with their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they could break free with it. Little tricksters…)

And the other of our baby sitters let the kids colour a few of the bricks on our home last year. That was a poor idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your home unless you intend to get a polish brush and figure out how to get all of it off. This has been there for almost per year now, and despite pelting rains and plenty of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. Perhaps I could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??
