Can you get a mental block if you have a clear canvas facing you? And the kids say, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a flower, or sometimes a rainbow, but then I’m stumped. I’m the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What have you been supposed to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).
We have a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that individuals have an outdoor stone driveway and exactly the same with our patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in every the small, rectangular bricks in numerous colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls within too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first-time before I noticed, and now they know they could break free with it. Little tricksters…)
If there was only 1 item to get us through the long summer days, it would be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not merely could it be super inexpensive, but it’s perfect for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your children all night of nonstop fun!
And the other of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a several bricks on our home last year. Which was a poor idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you intend to get a wash brush and work out how to have it all off. This has been there for pretty much per year now, and despite pelting rains and plenty of snow storms it’s as bright as the afternoon it happened. I guess I could find a wash brush and scrub it off, but who has enough time for that??
This list is fantastic if you will need a little bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from the boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure!
