Can you get a mental block when you yourself have an empty canvas before you? And your children assert, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a rose, or sometimes a range, but then I’m stumped. I feel exactly the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What have you been designed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to tell you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that we have an outdoor patio stone driveway and the same with our patio in the backyard. So the children take the chalk colours and fill in every the little, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture into the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they can get away with it. Little tricksters…)

If there was only 1 item to obtain us through the long summer days, it could be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not just is it super inexpensive, but it’s perfect for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better when compared to a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

We’ve pulled together well known sidewalk chalk ideas into an epic list of learning activities, games, imagination spark-ers, and get-them-active ideas that may keep your chalk repertoire fresh all summer long. Plus some totally cool interactive chalk art that you do not wish to miss!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your kids all day of nonstop fun!

And then one of our baby sitters let the kids colour a several bricks on our house last year. That was a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you intend to get a wash brush and figure out how to get all of it off. It’s been there for almost per year now, and despite having pelting rains and a lot of snow storms it’s as bright as the day it happened. I suppose I really could find a wash brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??

This list is fantastic if you need a little bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! There are tons of great ideas! And better yet, you are able to have a photograph from an additional floor window and keep consitently the memory as a keepsake! I really like these ideas!

From princess crowns to under sea adventures, you will find lots of fun ideas to assist you produce a whole new world in your driveway!
