Can you get a mental block if you have a blank canvas in front of you? And the kids are saying, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually find yourself drawing a rose, or sometimes a range, but I’m stumped. I feel the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently supposed to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a large box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to inform you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I believe the issue (besides our creativity) is that we have an outdoor patio stone driveway and the same with our patio in the backyard. So the youngsters take the chalk colours and fill in all the tiny, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached to their swing set and they’ll colour the walls within too (they’re not supposed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they could break free with it. Little tricksters…)

If there was only 1 item to obtain us through the long summer days, it could be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only can it be super inexpensive, but it’s ideal for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than the usual “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

And the other of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a several bricks on the house last year. That was a poor idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you wish to get a wash brush and work out how to obtain everything off. It’s been there for pretty much annually now, and despite having pelting rains and plenty of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. I suppose I really could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has the full time for that??
