Do you get a mental block when you have a bare canvas before you? And your children are saying, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a flower, or sometimes a rainbow, but then I’m stumped. I’m the exact same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you supposed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).
We have a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to inform you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the issue (besides our creativity) is that individuals have an outdoor stone driveway and the same with your patio in the backyard. So the children take the chalk colours and fill in all the tiny, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture in to the play house attached with their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they can escape with it. Little tricksters…)
If there is only 1 item to obtain us through the long summer days, it will be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only is it super inexpensive, but it’s great for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better when compared to a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your children all night of nonstop fun!
And then one of our baby sitters let the children colour a several bricks on the house last year. That was a bad idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your home unless you want to get a scrub brush and work out how to obtain everything off. This has been there for almost per year now, and despite pelting rains and a lot of snow storms it’s as bright as the afternoon it happened. I guess I could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??
This list is fantastic if you need a bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure!
