Do you get a mental block when you yourself have a bare canvas before you? And your children say, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a rose, or sometimes a range, but then I’m stumped. I feel exactly the same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you supposed to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to tell you the reality, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that we have a patio stone driveway and the exact same with your patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in most the small, rectangular bricks in numerous colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached to their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not designed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they are able to escape with it. Little tricksters…)

If there was just one item to have us through the long summer days, it would be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not merely is it super inexpensive, but it’s great for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

We’ve pulled together the most popular sidewalk chalk ideas into an epic list of learning activities, games, imagination spark-ers, and get-them-active ideas that’ll keep your chalk repertoire fresh all summer long. Plus some totally cool interactive chalk art you do not desire to miss!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with the kids all night of nonstop fun!

And the other of our baby sitters let the children colour a some of the bricks on the house last year. Which was a negative idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your home unless you wish to get a polish brush and figure out how to have all of it off. This has been there for pretty much a year now, and despite pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as the afternoon it happened. I suppose I possibly could find a wash brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??

This list is fantastic if you need a bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from the boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! There are tons of great ideas! And better yet, you are able to have a photograph from another floor window and keep the memory as a keepsake! I really like these ideas!

From princess crowns to under sea adventures, you will find lots of fun ideas to help you make a whole new world in your driveway!
