Would you get a mental block if you have an empty canvas in front of you? And your children say, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a flower, or sometimes a rainbow, but then I’m stumped. I feel the exact same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently likely to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We’ve a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the facts, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I think the issue (besides our creativity) is that we have a patio stone driveway and the same with your patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in most the little, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached to their swing set and they’ll colour the walls inside too (they’re not supposed to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they can break free with it. Little tricksters…)

If there clearly was just one item to get us through the long summer days, it could be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only can it be super inexpensive, but it’s ideal for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than the usual “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

We’ve pulled together the most popular sidewalk chalk ideas into an epic list of learning activities, games, imagination spark-ers, and get-them-active ideas that’ll keep your chalk repertoire fresh all summer long. Plus some totally cool interactive chalk art that you don’t desire to miss!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your kids all night of nonstop fun!

And then one of our baby sitters let the children colour a some of the bricks on our home last year. That was a negative idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your property unless you want to get a wash brush and figure out how to obtain everything off. It’s been there for almost annually now, and even with pelting rains and a lot of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. Perhaps I possibly could find a polish brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??

This list is fantastic if you’ll need a little inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! You will find loads of great ideas! And better still, you can take a photograph from another floor window and keep carefully the memory as a keepsake! I really like these ideas!

From princess crowns to under sea adventures, you will find loads of fun ideas to help you create a whole new world in your driveway!
