Can you get a mental block when you have a bare canvas in front of you? And the kids say, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually end up drawing a rose, or sometimes a range, however I’m stumped. I feel exactly the same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently supposed to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a huge box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to tell you the reality, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that individuals have an outdoor stone driveway and exactly the same with your patio in the backyard. So the kids take the chalk colours and fill in most the small, rectangular bricks in various colours. Sometimes they venture in to the play house attached to their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they could break free with it. Little tricksters…)

If there was only one item to get us through the long summer days, it would be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not merely could it be super inexpensive, but it’s great for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with your children all night of nonstop fun!

And the other of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a few of the bricks on our house last year. That was a negative idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you wish to get a wash brush and figure out how to get it all off. This has been there for pretty much per year now, and even with pelting rains and plenty of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. I suppose I really could find a wash brush and scrub it off, but who has enough time for that??

This list is fantastic if you need a little inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from the boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure! You will find loads of great ideas! And better yet, you are able to take a photograph from another floor window and keep consitently the memory as a keepsake! I really like these ideas!
