Can you get a mental block if you have a blank canvas facing you? And the kids are saying, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually find yourself drawing a rose, or sometimes a rainbow, but then I’m stumped. I feel the same way with a giant blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently likely to draw on a huge blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).
We’ve a big box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to tell you the reality, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I do believe the problem (besides our creativity) is that individuals have an outdoor patio stone driveway and exactly the same with our patio in the backyard. So the children take the chalk colours and fill in every the tiny, rectangular bricks in numerous colours. Sometimes they venture into the play house attached for their swing set and they’ll colour the walls in there too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that first time before I noticed, and now they know they can break free with it. Little tricksters…)
If there is only one item to have us through the long summer days, it could be Sidewalk Chalk for the win. Not only can it be super inexpensive, but it’s great for all ages and has unlimited play potential. And really, what’s better than a “messy” activity with NO clean-up?!

So grab your box of chalk and head outside with the kids all night of nonstop fun!
And the other of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a several bricks on our house last year. That was a poor idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your home unless you want to get a scrub brush and figure out how to have all of it off. This has been there for almost a year now, and despite having pelting rains and a lot of snow storms it’s as bright as your day it happened. I guess I really could find a scrub brush and scrub it off, but who has enough time for that??
This list is fantastic if you need a little bit of inspiration to take your sidewalk chalk from a boring game of X’s and O’s or hopscotch to a fun “Wow, that’s so amazing!” adventure!
