Would you get a mental block when you yourself have a clear canvas in front of you? And your kids say, “Draw something! Draw something!” – I usually wind up drawing a rose, or sometimes a rainbow, but then I’m stumped. I’m the same way with a huge blank driveway and sidewalk chalk, except it’s so much worse! What are you currently likely to draw on a giant blank driveway!? (I’d probably still draw my typical flower and rainbow…).

We have a big box of sidewalk chalk sitting in the closet right now. But to share with you the truth, we aren’t NEARLY this creative with it. I think the issue (besides our creativity) is that people have an outdoor patio stone driveway and exactly the same with our patio in the backyard. So the youngsters take the chalk colours and fill in most the little, rectangular bricks in different colours. Sometimes they venture to the play house attached with their swing set and they’ll colour the walls within too (they’re not likely to, but wow, they really moved fast that very first time before I noticed, and now they know they could escape with it. Little tricksters…)

And then one of our baby sitters let the youngsters colour a several bricks on our house last year. That has been a negative idea. Don’t colour the bricks on your house unless you wish to get a wash brush and figure out how to obtain it all off. This has been there for almost a year now, and despite pelting rains and lots of snow storms it’s as bright as the day it happened. I guess I really could find a polish brush and scrub it off, but who has the time for that??
